American Music Awards 2013: Lady Gaga and R. Kelly Give Controversial Performance [VIDEO]
Lady Gaga never disappoints, proving that once again, at the American Music Awards, last night in Los Angeles, Calif. Gaga of course entered the red carpet sitting on a fake white horse, being maneuvered by real people, as you could tell by looking at the "legs of the horse". "Mother monster" actually looked like a real fairy tale princess, sitting high on her horse. This was just the beginning of what she really had prepared for us.
Lady Gaga has been enjoying her time back on the top of the Billboard 200 chart with her new album "Art Pop", which has already sold 258,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Her second single featuring, R&B controversial superstar R.Kelly "Do What U Want", is currently at No. 18 on the Hot 100 chart. At last night's AMA's, Gaga and R. Kelly put on quite the performance for us.
The stage opens up and there it is...the President's Oval Office. Kelly plays the president as Gaga plays his secretary. As they began to talk the audience immediately catches the drift. There is a very "Monica Lewinsky" feel to this scenario. Gaga calls Kelly to ask him what is it he would like for lunch today, Kelly replies "girl, you been working for me for six long years, you know what I want!" he sang. The performance then kicks off at Gaga sings and dances over to president Kelly where she finally jumps on his desk, dancing seductively. Kelly then joins her as he straddles above her romancing her with his voice and lyrics. Kelly then stops and yells "Who put these pictures on Instagram!" as Lady Gaga runs around the stage. He then leaves the stage "denying he has any involvement with that woman". The camera then turns to Gaga who is sitting on the piano singing a ballad version of a part of the song, while a video of her as a child playing the piano runs in the background.
The performance comes to an end when the screen behind Gaga turns into newspaper headlines reading, "Lady Gaga is fat" and "Lady Gaga is over". These are just a few of the many things negatively written about the singer upon her time away from the spotlight, as she toured the world, recovered from hip surgery and recorded her "Art Pop" album. But Lady Gaga came back strong, reminding the world of her outrageous creativity and making the media eat their words with her record sells. So, a glimpse back into the Clinton presidency, a lot of sexual innuendos and a big slap in the face to critics; yes...this was definitely a Lady Gaga performance, Touché.
