Who do you admire if you call yourself the winner of an MTV Video Music Award, five People's Choice Awards and 12 Teen Choice Awards? In the case of singer Demi Lovato, the answer is Jennifer Lopez, E! Online reported.

"I would say I've become really close with Jennifer Lopez. She's such a strong, confident woman that she's really helped me with learning that stuff," Lovato told the magazine. "And she's just such an inspirational person and so empowering. And if there's anybody that's super radiant and confident, it's her!"

The 22-year-old actress, singer and songwriter also talked about self-confidence and how to avoid giving in to external pressures when it comes to protecting a positive body image, E! Online noted.

"Your body is going to change, your looks are going to change, you're going to have great hair and makeup days, you're going to have bad hair and makeup days,"  she said admitted. "(But) it doesn't define who you are. At the end of the day, who you are is who people really see," Lovato added.

The young artist has already become "a beacon of hope and a symbol of women empowerment," Entertainment Tonight judged. In a new interview with the television show, she explained why it matters to her to use her status to encourage others.

"I feel like every public figure has been put in the public because they are meant for more than just singing," Lovato said. "I had a lot of people that I looked up to when I was younger that weren't the best role models, so for me, it's a responsibility to hold myself accountable and to be that inspiration for young girls and even people who are older than me."

It's a lesson that the star learned in her own family, Lovato noted.

"I have a little sister," she explained, "and I wouldn't want her looking up to other people who don't necessarily use their voices for good."

How Lopez feels about Lovato's compliment, meanwhile, is a mystery so far. The 45-year-old star was busy on Wednesday as she embarking on a whirlwind promotional trail for her new single, "Feel the Light," the Daily Mail noted.
