Boardwalk Empire Season 4 Finale - TV Replay and Recap: Richard Dies a Bloody Death. Find Out How HERE
Fans of the Boardwalk Empire Series already know a very simple fact. If a character's time is up, he is going to die irrespective of how much he is liked and how much he is relevant to the storyline. The tragedy is that poor Richard Harrow, one of the most likable killers on the show, was killed just when he was getting his life somewhat together.
About the Series
Boardwalk Empire received widespread critical acclaim when it first debuted on HBO. The true-to-life storyline, visual style, in-character actors, costumes and acting contributed to a period drama that was an instant hit. Lead actor Steve Buscemi's performance also had a strong hand in the series popularity and Boardwalk Empire was easily extended four times to continue the storyline and keep viewers interested. Season 4 delivered the punch right at the ending by juggling more than three different plots that intersected quite neatly at the end. The rise of AL Capone who seems to be coming into his own, the danger to Chalky White from Narcisse, and the Federal plot to bring down Nucky by using his brother Eli were the main storylines.
The tragedy is that Harrow had finally managed to get his life back together. He had come back from the war, managed to recreate his life even after being wounded in Europe and his best friend Jimmy was killed. He had married Julia and then arranged for Julia, Tommy and her father, to move to Wisconsin with her sister to have a simple happy life. He would have moved too but he had to make sure that Gillian would no longer threaten him and for that reason, he agreed to a contract from Nucky. The WWI veteran was supposed to assassinate Valentin Narcisse under Nucky's orders. In exchange, Nucky would leak information to the authorities about Jimmy's body leading to Gillian's arrest and conviction. The entire deal failed when he lost his nerve to shoot Narcisse but killed Chalky's daughter by mistake. The last shot shows him walking to his inevitable death under the boardwalk.
Season 5 Expected: Definitely!
Producers will be continuing the storyline with Season 5 and roster of possibilities seems endless. The Prohibition Era is rich with a plethora of characters and possibilities that will easily keep THE BOARDWALK EMPIRE rich in storyline and characters.
