'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Cast News 2015: Tracy Morgan Wants to Appear on Show 'When He Is Well'
A new Netflix comedy in which Tina Fey serves as executive producer has recently premiered on the streaming media. Though there were many familiar faces, Fey said one could be coming in an upcoming season.
"Tracy [Morgan] has already told me that when he is well, he wants to be on the show and I said you got it," Fey said to E! News.
Just don't expect him to star as Tracy Jordan, as the new show and "30 Rock" are not in the same universe.
Entertainment Tonight reports "The Office" alum Ellie Kemper stars in the comedy "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," which chronicles the life and times of an overly joyous young girl trying to find her in the world after numerous major setbacks.
"Ellie plays a woman who has been held in an apocalyptic cult by a guy who thinks the world is going to end," Fey recently told ET while appearing at the Winter TCA Press Tour. "He's held these women for their safety for 15 years, and in the beginning of the series she is rescued."
The website adds for all those who consider themselves to be fans of Fey's old show "30 Rock," this series should definitely be for you. "30 Rock" vets Jane Krakowski and Tituss Burgess star as primary characters Jacqueline Voorhes and as Schmidt's new roommate, Titus.
"She has a new chance at life," Fey added of the Kimmy Schmidt character. "But then because of her weird background there are a lot of things she doesn't know, and then some very weird things that she thinks she knows that are wrong."
Several media outlets have reported the show was originally created for network TV, but Fey explained that plan changed after NBC became concerned about having a proper place in their weekly line-up for the show.
"We made these first 13 episodes for NBC and then we were talking with NBC and they were like, 'We don't know where we can put it," said Fey. "We don't have any shows like this anymore. We don't have that many single camera comedies coming up.' And they gave us the opportunity to talk to Netflix. Within like two or three days the whole thing was a deal."
