"Royals" singer Lorde does not hold back on her opinions on other artists. Even though the 17-year old singer is "up and coming" she has no problem with saying how she feels about her colleagues. Her most recent "complain" was about rap royalty Drake and fellow Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj.

We first learned of Lorde's strongly opinionated mind when she slammed Selena Gomez for her hit song "Come and Get It". Lorde felt that the song was belittling to women saying; "When you're ready come and get it from me...I'm sick of women being portrayed this way". Selena, who actually sings a cover of Lorde's hit song "Royals" during her concerts, also had some words for the artist.

During a Boston's AMP radio program, The TJ Show, Selena Gomez responded to Lorde's sentiment saying, "I appreciate everybody's opinion...but I think at the same time that feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive, because in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist. So that's the only thing I feel, but you know, she's young, she's got so much talent, she's gonna take over, she gets it, so I don't take it to heart". Don't you just love how she just called her an "inexperienced little girl" in a modest and kind way? Touché Selena.

Well that didn't stop the New Zealand singer from criticizing other music giants Drake and Nicki Minaj. She stated, "Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn't relate to me or anyone that I knew...I began thinking, how are we listening to this? It's completely irrelevant".

You just called Nicki Minaj irrelevant...run...now. The last time anyone publically criticized Nicki Minaj they were featured on an entire song called "Stupid H**", I don't think you want Nicki's Barbs or her bars after you, grrr (Nicki Minaj growling face). Even though we must agree with the fact that as the normal working class, we cannot relate to driving Maserati's, that being why we love the song "Royals", these artists are just expressing their own experiences through their material. In other words, as an artist just hitting the scene, calling other's work "irrelevant" is not very keen.

Either way, we have to appreciate Lorde's sincerity and braveness to express how she feels. This is what the entertainment realm is all about after all, competition that brings us great songs. Hey...at least she likes Taylor Swift and says she's "a very good role model" to young girls...score!
