Miami police were called to the home of rap star Lil Wane on Wednesday amid reports of four people being shot.

According to TMZ.com, authorities arrived to find the situation to be a hoax and more a case of swatting than anything else. Given it's the second time in the last two weeks police were called to the home, authorities took it completely seriously and cleared out the neighborhood upon their arrival.

Over the last month, police were also summoned to the home by report of a suspicious person lurking outside. In the midst of Wednesday's whirlwind, Wayne's Young Money label took to Twitter to post: "Wayne is okay. Wasn't home during alleged events."

Several media outlets have reported there are conflicting reports as to whether the rapper was at his 15,100-square-foot, nine-bedroom, nine-bath waterfront home at the time of Wednesday's ordeal, which began just after noon after police received a non-emergency call of shots being fired.

The last several months have represented a time of turmoil and change for Wayne. According to Billboard.com, he recently announced that he planned to split from longtime partner Birdman and his Cash Money Records label after the brand refused to release his album due to reported technical difficulties.

"I'm f---ed up in a bad situation," he said while on stage at Vice's 20th anniversary party. "But I will be out of this soon and I do it for y'all. So put the motherf---in' fives up for 'Carter V.'"

Within hours, more than 1,000 of his fans signed an online petition demanding that Cash Money instantly release him from his contact. "We the fans have truly been looking forward to a new release and hope you will reconsider your decision not to release it," the petition read.
