Bruce Jenner News: E! Documentary Series Put On Hold, Kris Jenner Rumored to Cause the Cancellation
It seemed that former Olympian Bruce Jenner's docu-series for E! chronicling his alleged transition from male to female was a done deal, but a source confirms production on the series has stopped and the show's future is uncertain.
"Bruce's primary goal is to bring awareness to this issue in order to help others [in the transgender community]," a source with knowledge of the situation told TMZ. "He is not sure that E! and a reality show is the best format to do that."
Jenner, 65, "wants this to be taken seriously so that [his situation] can have the most positive impact on society's perception of the transgender community," said the source.
Jenner reportedly is unsure that Bunim/Murray, the production company currently working on the project, is the right fit. "He wants to explore other options," said the source. "But Bunim/Murray are making him feel trapped in his contract and are not allowing him to explore other avenues to tell his story."
But rumors have it that his ex-wife, Kris Jenner, is to blame for his show's cancellation, reports Radar Online.
Kris reportedly does not want a show about Bruce's transition into a woman taking away viewers from "Keeping up with the Kardashians." Kris, along with Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, and Kendall and Kylie Jenner, signed a new network contract worth about $80 million for three seasons.
"Kris is doing everything in her power to make sure that Bruce does not get a spin-off show," a source told Radar Online. "She has even gone so far as to say that she will not allow the Kardashians to be involved at all if Bruce gets his own show."
The source also said that Kris "believes that Bruce is doing the transition to one-up her and get even for all the trauma that she put him through."
The executive producer for "Keeping up with the Kardashians," Jeff Jenkins, reportedly said he is unaware of a Bruce spin-off show in the works.
