Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao Fight: Mayweather Afraid to Lose Says Pacquiao on ESPN [WATCH]
Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have finally given fans what they want.
On Wednesday, March 11 the two Welterweight champions stood face-to-face with other in downtown Los Angeles. We won't see Mayweather and Pacquiao this close again until their scheduled duel on May 2.
Both fighters answered questions throughout the day about the upcoming "fight of the century." Pacquiao didn't hold back his feelings whatsoever. He appeared on the live telecast of ESPN "First Take" with Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith to talk about his fight with Mayweather.
"Manny, why do you think Floyd was so afraid to fight you the last five years?" asked Bayless.
"He's afraid of losing" said Pacquiao.
"Tell us how you will beat Mayweather on May 2" asked Bayless.
"I know in my heart and my mind I can beat him. I was more worried when I fought Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto than this fight. That's in my heart" said Pacquiao.
"Tell us why Manny. What advantage do you have over him Manny" asked Bayless.
"Floyd has good hand speed, but his foot cannot match his speed. I have good hand speed and good footwork that creates a good combination. That's my advantage. I don't think Mayweather has much punching power. I think Miguel Cotto punches harder, and even Margarito" said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao also went on to say that Mayweather has a "good defense," but "I have a very good plan" regarding to his attack against Mayweather.
Shortly after that, Stephan A. Smith erupted and began talking to Pacquiao one on one. Smith is on record saying "Mayweather will give Pacquiao a boxing lesson and pick him apart in the ring."
"Do you really believe Floyd Mayweather is less of a threat than Miguel Cotto, Margarito and a washed up old Oscar De La Hoya?" asked Smith.
"101 percent" replied Pacquiao.
Pacquiao later went on to say that this fight "means a lot to him" and he wants to end Mayweather's undefeated streak. "His success and fame goes to his head. That's his problem," Pacquiao stated. Pacquiao thinks defeating Mayweather on May 2 would be great for boxing.
Despite the fact the Mayweather is 47-0 in his professional career, Pacquiao isn't backing down at all. The WBO Welterweight Champion has been calling out Mayweather for years now.
Some boxing experts, promoters and fans (including Bob Arum) have even accused Mayweather of being afraid to fight an established left-handed boxer. Pacquiao is, of course, a southpaw, and that will be one of the biggest matchups to watch for on the May 2 fight.
For Mayweather, his speed and defense is the primary reason he has yet to lose, or even get fully knocked down to the canvas. For Pacquiao to be able to knock out Mayweather, he and trainer Freddie Roach will have to have a great game plan.
Pacquiao ended by saying "The lord my God I'm serving will deliver him into my hands on May 2."
