NBA 2K14 Next-Gen Features, Gameplay, Review: 2K Sports Easily Shuts Out NBA Live, EA Sports Game Executive Says "It's Been a Rough Week"
NBA 2K14 has solidified itself as such a great basketball sim that it just might be enough to convince you to buy one of the next generation consoles.
It also completely shattered any hope for an NBA Live comeback anytime soon.
In an era when sports video games tend to repeat themselves over and over with only slight changes, 2K Sports has set the bar higher than ever. Most people who are into the popular sports games such as Madden are repeatedly disappointed when they find that the game barely updates anything more than the rosters.
2K Sports is enjoying great success while its NBA Live counterpart not only couldn't match its rival but it couldn't even stay afloat. Most people who reviewed NBA Live gave the game terrible reviews and it struggled to earn more than one star in the ratings. Executive Producer Sean O'Brien took notice and decided to write an honest letter to the fans.
"I'm not going to lie; it's been a rough week," he wrote. "As you can imagine, this isn't exactly the NBA LIVE comeback story we were hoping for this year. We hear loud and clear that some of you are disappointed in various aspects of NBA LIVE 14, and I'm sorry if the game doesn't live up to your expectations. Looking at your feedback, we have laid out a plan to make NBA LIVE 14 a better game as quickly as we can."
"Let me wrap up with this; for those of you who have supported us throughout this development cycle and continue to have our backs now, thank you. We've got a lot of work to do; I've got a lot of work to do"
We'll see if NBA Live ever makes a true comeback, but in the meantime its all NBA 2K14. The game is available on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
