Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop update has finally released and is officially rolling out for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, at least for Sprint customers in the U.S. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates appear to be in the works.

While that privileged Nexus bunch are already getting Android 5.1 Lollipop, many of the TouchWiz-toting U.S. carrier versions of Samsung flagship smartphones from 2014 and before are still waiting for Android 5.0 Lollipop or Android L 5.0.1 to begin OTA and KIES updates.

Galaxy Notes: Expect Sprint First

But if you're with Sprint, and have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it's official: Check your "about phone" section for an OTA update rolling out in the U.S. to upgrade your operating system to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Sprint's Lollipop update for Note 4 devices had popped up in the wild starting early March, but no more rumors on this one; Sprint posted it on its official press page this week.

Meanwhile, according to Tech Times, another unofficial (read: accidental) posting on Sprint's website indicates that Android Lollipop 5.0 is headed to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 slabs in short order. T-Mobile has already pushed the OTA to its Note 3 devices, and it would make sense for Sprint to follow its direct competitor ASAP.

When it comes to the Galaxy Note Edge, there's hope for an update soon, but frustratingly nothing official announced yet. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge owners in Australia have had the Lollipop update for about a month now, and while there's no new official updates on Android L being slated for Galaxy Note Edge in the U.S., all indications are that it's just a matter of time.

When it comes to the relatively ancient Galaxy Note 2, though, the only hope we can offer is that there are some scant indications from Europe that it won't be left in the lurch forever.
