Chiquis Rivera promises not to use the N-word again after she used it to celebrate a nomination for an award, according to TMZ.

Rivera is the daughter of the late Mexican singer Jenni Rivera. She recorded a video for her fans thanking them for helping her get nominated for Regional Mexican Female Artist of the Year. She ended the video saying "Y'all my N****s."

Rivera went onto "TMZ Live" to apologize and promise she would never use the word again. She explained that she grew up in Compton and using the word was no big deal.

"This is something that's a huge deal, and I want to take full responsibility for it," she says in the video. "I want to apologize if I offended anybody."

Rivera added that growing up in Compton they would frequently joke around and use the word.

Rivera acknowledges that even though she was joking around in the video, she has a "social responsibility" not to use the word and that using it is unacceptable.

Rivera ended up not winning the award, her mother did instead.

Rivera explains that she made the follow-up video because she did not want things to "get out of hand or be misunderstood, more than anything," according to Cosmopolitan.

The one-minute apology video shows Rivera sitting in a chair in what looks to be her home. She is not dressed up or wearing much makeup. She seems genuine in the video and very sorry.

She explains that one of her best friends of eight years is black. She said he has also lived with her for three years. She says that he does not take offense when she uses the word, but she says if she offended anyone, she wants to apologize "from the bottom of her heart." She adds it was not her intention to offend anyone.
