St Patrick’s Day is here -- the day when we get to see how good we look in green while celebrating the Irish.

But there is no rule that we have to necessarily go along with all the traditional events associated with the holiday.

In New York, there are plenty of alternative Irish experiences to be had.

Time Out has listed a set of uncommon diversions for the celebrator who doesn’t necessarily want to stand around in a big crowd and hope to score some green beer.

If you are into improve check out the comedy at Too Ra Loo Ra Loo: Improvished Irish Blarney at the PIT. Funny gals Lorraine Cink and Julie Sharbutt will be playing different scenarios out and pretending that they are at an old time Irish tavern. Show starts at 7 p.m., tickets are $5.

If watching a campy horror flick that stars a pre-"Friends" Jennifer Aniston is your thing, then you should really head down to the Nitehawk Cinema for a 9:30 p.m. screening of the 1993 cult horror comedy “Leprechaun.” Tickets are $15.

And there is no denying that there will be a lot of drinking today. So the best way to prepare for the inevitable inebriation that may befall you and your buddies is to have it happen in the safety of an Irish pub, where you might be able to temper the alcohol with some authentic Irish grub.

The Dead Rabbit is a grocery/bar with a deep Irish history. In between pints of Guinness and shots of Jameson, you can enjoy authentic bar food like Scotch eggs and lamb shepard's pie.

Then, if you are feeling like a sinner or saint, you could head to the Wicked Monk, which is so authentic it actually has incorporated wooden pews, a pulpit, a confessional, statues and stained-glass windows from a demolished Irish church right into the bar’s decor.
