Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is reportedly seeking a trade before the 2015 NFL season starts, but his team denied receiving any request from the pass rusher.

NFL insider Clarence Hill of Forth Worth Star-Telegram reported on Tuesday that Bennett is trying to convince the Seahawks to trade him to the Atlanta Falcons just a year after signing a new deal with Seattle, following their Super Bowl XLVIII success.

Bennett signed a four-year deal worth $28.5 million with the Seahawks in March last year, but Hill reported that the 29-year-old is looking for a new deal. Reports also added that Bennett feels he deserves a bigger deal after performing well in their loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX last month.

Hours after news about Bennett's purported trade request surfaced, John Boyle of Everett Herald reported that a Seahawks official denied that the 29-year-old is looking for a move out of Seattle.

However, Boyle also clarified that the reports about Bennett's desire to be traded is not necessarily inaccurate or a lie. He pointed out that Hill might have heard from a source close to Bennett that the defensive ends wants to a trade to the Falcons along with a new deal, but Bennett's agent has yet to relay the request to the Seahawks.

Bennett, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before securing a one-year deal with the Seahawks in 2013, has been a solid contributor to the Seahawks over the past two seasons. In 2013 and 2014, he led the team in sacks with 8.5 and 7.0, respectively.

If reports about his desire to be traded are true, the Falcons are understandably his preferred destination because of new Falcons coach Dan Quinn, the former defensive coordinator of the Seahawks. In December, Bennett said that Quinn is the main reason why he improved as a defender in the league.
