C-Span Pranks: Show Tricked by Caller's 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' Rendition
A man interrupted a recent C-SPAN segment by reciting a rendition of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song.
According to Time, hosts of the show on Wednesday were taking calls from viewers talking about how much influence Congress should have on the ongoing Iran nuclear negotiations when the incident occurred.
Almost immediately after the host answers his call, the prankster, who identifies himself as "Jack Strickland," starts off by stating, "I just want to make it clear first of all I'm calling from Bel-Air, California." Within seconds, he breaks into a verse that included the lyrics "a couple of guys who were up to no good essentially started causing trouble in my neighborhood."
Salon.com adds the hosts quickly started to pick up on the man's shenanigans and frantically attempted to save the segment by redirecting the conversation back to the topic of Iran.
The "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" starred Will Smith, Tatyana Ali, Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons and the late James Avery. The sitcom aired on NBC for more than six years. The premise of the show revolves around Smith's character moving to California to live with his aunt and uncle and their children after essentially being run out of his West Philadelphia neighborhood.
The 46-year-old Smith has since become an Academy Award-nominated actor, starring in such films as "Ali," "The Pursuit of Happyness, "Independence Day," "Six Degrees of Separation" and "Men in Black."
Smith has also won four Grammy Awards and been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards. He is also the only actor to have had at least eight of his movies gross more than $100 million at the box office.
