Ozzy Osbourne Asks Fans To Donate To Cancer Charity for His 65th Birthday
Birthdays are a time for receiving gifts, but rocker Ozzy Osbourne took the time on his birthday to ask for gifts to be given to others!
According to NewsMax, the "Prince of Darkness" turned 65 yesterday, and after receiving well wishes from his children (Kelly and Jack) and his wife (Sharon), he asked his loyal fans to make donations to a cancer charity in lieu of sending him gifts.
"I'm using my birthday tomorrow to raise money for @RoyalMarsden!" he tweeted. "Give a gift and donate to help cancer patients here."
Royal Marsden's birthday giving page showed around 2,000 pounds, which is about $3,200. That's a total for birthday donations throughout the year, not just for Osbourne's birthday. But a few fans made note of their gift for the Black Sabbath rocker.
"Happy Birthday to the Prince of Darkness! I put your face on the billion dollar legal tender note and added, 'In Ozzfather We Trust!" Super Novus Ordo Seclorum How's that for a KamikOZZY spin?" wrote one fan on a 100-pound donation.
According to E! News, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is a U.K.-based organization that provides treatment and care for more than 50,000 cancer patients every year in addition to funding cancer research.
What's most notable, aside from these donations, is that Osbourne's famous daughter Kelly took to her Instagram to post a "throwback" photo and wish her father (whom she called "Dadda") a happy birthday. In the photo, Kelly -- who is currently rocking lavender hair -- is sporting her natural golden blonde locks, and Ozzy looks none the worse for wear. They're photographed in the same house that was featured in Penelope Spheeris' film, "The Decline of Western Civilization Part 2."
Happy birthday to Ozzy! And congratulations to him for using his birthday to do something good, instead of selfishly asking for presents!
