Katy Perry has been chosen as UNICEF's newest Goodwill Ambassador. The honor came after Anthony Lake, UNICEF's Executive Director, heard Perry Roar. Well not literally, but he believes she is a great example for young people, celebrating her involvement with the amazing charity.

Katy made a trip to Madagascar as part of a Unicef mission earlier this year. Bff Rihanna recently donated a reported $100,000 of her own money to UNICEF's "There for the Philippines" campaign. Seems like Riri wanted to not only support this overwhelming cause, but she also is there 100 percent behind her friend and her new title.

As the Goodwill Ambassador, Katy will be spreading the message to continue to help children in need. She will be focusing on kids and adolescents living in poverty and suffering from violence, abuse and neglect. With Katy Perry's popularity and accessibility to so many parts of the world, she is perfect for the role to bring awareness. This also gives her the accessibility to reach a number of families in need. She said this about her new voyage, "I believe young people have the power to change their own lives, with our help. I am honored to join UNICEF as a Giidwill Ambassador, and committed to doing everything I can to help children and adolescents who come from such different backgrounds but want the same thing: a brighter future".
