Celine Dion Announces She’s Returning to her Las Vegas Residency
Celine Dion is returning back to her Las Vegas residency in August.
A rep for the Canadian singer confirmed to ABC News that after a year hiatus, Dion will return to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with a brand new show.
"It is very emotional for me and I'm anticipating the emotions to grow even more as the date gets closer," Dion told People about her return.
Dion also addressed the love and support she's received from her fans during her hiatus.
"It's very touching," she said. "Every night is a new show. ... I promise there will be high, happy notes."
Last year in August, Dion announced her decision to postpone her Vegas residency in order to take care of her husband, Rene Angelil who was battling cancer, E! News reports.
"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," Dion said to E! at the time. "I also want to apologize to all my fans everywhere, for inconveniencing them, and I thank them so much for their love and support."
In addition to announcing her return, Dion also opened up to ABC News' Deborah Roberts about her initial decision to take a break from performing because of her husband's illness. ABC News reports that Dion's interview will air on "Good Morning America" and "Nightline."
Dion first began her residency in Vegas in 2003 and continued until 2014 until she announced her hiatus.
"We are taking life one day at a time," Dion told ABC News. "[But] we are choosing to live."
Dion and her husband have two children together, son Rene-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 4.
