Speculations about the new Samsung Galaxy S5 continue to stoke the anticipation of consumers as reports now reveal that the 2014 version of the smartphone features a 2K screen resolution, according to GSM Arena.

After rumours of its metal-frame variant surfaced last week, buzz about its 2K resolution has flooded the web.  AndoidGuys reports that, "the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 may feature a 2k display, or one that provides 2560 x 1440 pixels."

The device, a Samsung SM-G900S, reportedly appeared on the GFXBench website. Apart from the resolution, additional specs are enumerated to include a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with an Adreno 330 GPU and Android 4.4 KitKat. The buzz had gotten Samsung fans excited, especially since the launch of this new gadget is said to happen on the first quarter of 2014 -mere months away.

Talks are also swirling that Samsung is going to launch a two-fold project with two variants of its 2014 smartphone. One is the metal-frame flagship, representing the new F series, while the other is the plastic S-series addition. Other information leaks suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be featuring a "5-inch Super AMOLED display, a 16-megapixel camera, a 4,000 mAh battery, and 3GB of RAM," according to BGR.

Meanwhile, rumours about the metal-frame variant of the S5 are getting stronger and more credible. GSM Arena cites the Japanese website EMSOne as having reported that companies including ODM Catcher Technology (Taiwan), BYD (China) and Ju Teng (Taiwan) have been commissioned to produce over 10 million units with metal shells for the Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Plain logic says this could very well indeed be the S5, according to GSM Arena.

CNET notes that if these rumours were to be true, Samsung will be producing a strong, solid product as the usual issues with its devices regarding "mediocre build quality and durability." With a metal frame or aluminium chassis, the new Galaxy S5 may be more resistant to wear and tear, and will be able to withstand  scratching, accidental dropping and knocking. With a prime device such as the new metal-frame smartphone, there could be no doubt that Samsung will continue to lead the market ahead of other brands.

Notably though, consumers will have to wait until 2014 to see if these speculations are true, and if Samsung will indeed continue to occupy its unchallenged spot on top.
