After a number of rumors, it seems Jennifer Lawrence will leave the "X-Men" series after the third installment "Apocalypse."

The Oscar-winning actress has been playing the iconic role of Mystique for the past two films and has garnered rave reviews. However, it seems like the actress will be finished playing the seductive shape-shifting mutant rogue after the third installment.

While promoting her upcoming film "Serena," Lawrence told MTV that the third installment would be her last. She said, "It is my last one, yes."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, however, Fox declined to comment, making it evident that the studio is not ready to announce any plans of further installments.

Lawrence is not the first one to suggest "Apocalypse" will be her last film. Earlier Nicholas Hoult told E! Online that he was only signed on for three films. However, he suggested he would love to do more films if he was asked to do others.

There have also been rumors that Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy will not return for a fourth installment. However, neither one of the actors have said any specifics.

"Apocalypse" is bringing familiar faces back to the franchise including Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey. The characters will be played by Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Sophie Turner.

Bryan Singer is directing the film, which was written by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

Lawrence is currently promoting her latest film "Serena," which hits theaters on Friday and will be released by Magnolia and stars her "Silver Linings Playbook" and "American Hustle" castmate Bradley Cooper. The actress is also working on a new film with David O. Russell entitled "Joy," which is slated for Christmas. Lawrence will also say goodbye to "The Hunger Games" saga this year as "Mockingjay Part 2" will be released in November, ending the hit series. Lawrence recently signed on to Steven Spielberg's latest film about Lynsey Addario, a well-known war photographer.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will be released on May 27, 2016.
