David Crosby Driving About 50 MPH When He Struck Jogger With Car, Artist Has Been Cooperative With Authorities
California police are still investigating a traffic accident where famed Crosby, Stills & Nash rock legend David Crosby was behind the wheel.
According to CNN.com, the 73-year-old Crosby struck a jogger with his 2015 Black Tesla near his Santa Ynez home sometime Sunday evening. California Highway Patrol officials report at the time of the accident, Crosby was traveling approximately 50 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.
Several media outlets, such as USA Today, have identified the injured man as 46-year-old Jose Jimenez. He suffered multiple fractures, abrasions and lacerations and was airlifted to a nearby Santa Barbara Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"Mr. Crosby was cooperative with authorities, and he was not impaired or intoxicated in any way," California Patrol spokesman Don Clotworthy said. "Mr. Crosby did not see the jogger because of the sun."
Crosby previously battled drug problems during the height of his star-studded career.
"David Crosby is obviously very upset that he accidentally hit anyone," public relations manager Michael Jensen said. "And, based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery."
Clotworthy later added Crosby and the jogger were both traveling on the same side of the road. He noted joggers are legally required to be on the left side of the road, going toward traffic, and are considered pedestrians.
Crosby last album, "Croz," was produced with his son, John Raymond, in 1993 and got solid reviews. Just last year, he was forced to cancel a string of sold-out shows in California after undergoing heart surgery to fix a blocked coronary artery.
