Furious 7 Cast, Release Date & Paul Walker News: Vin Diesel, Mexican Model Girlfriend Name Baby Girl After Walker
"Furious 7" favorite Vin Diesel was filled with adoration and bittersweet emotion as he became a proud papa of a baby girl -- his third child with longtime, Mexican model girlfriend Paloma Jimenez.
As a tribute to his dear friend, the late Paul Walker (who died in a car crash on Nov. 20, 2013, along with friend Roger Rodas), the couple named their daughter in his honor.
On Monday, during a helicopter ride with "Today" host Natalie Morales, Diesel revealed the name of his daughter: "I named her Pauline. ... There's no other person that I'm thinking about as I'm cutting this umbilical cord," he said. "I knew he was there and I felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my memory, a part of my word."
Diesel has been on a roller-coaster ride of emotions while promoting the highly-anticipated film that follows a hugely successful franchise and social media following. "Furious 7" hits theaters on Friday, April 3.
"I'm telling you this because I love you," he told Morales who became teary during the interview. "I know that you are a good soul, and I know that this is in good hands."
Not only did he wear his heart on his sleeve on "Today," but he recently got emotional at a "Furious 7," premiere in Los Angeles as well.
On March 16, the happy couple announced the news of Pauline's arrival via Facebook. The couple are also proud parents of daughter Hania Riley Sinclair, 6, and son Vincent Sinclair, 4.
Filled with love, Diesel wrote the lyrics of Louis Armstrong's treasured tune, "It's a Wonderful World," along with a touching image of him with Pauline.
"I hear babies crying, I watch them grow," he wrote. "They'll learn much more, than I'll never know. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."
Walker, who Diesel's children and family referred to as "Uncle Pablo," had a big impact on Diesel when he became a father. On Nov. 24, 2014, Diesel also shared a beautiful message and a picture of Walker with his daughter, Hania Riley Sinclair on Facebook.
"He was a part of so much in my life ... long personal talks with my mother or babysitting the Alpha Angel. ... He took a certain pride in being uncle Pablo. ... After all, we were filming a scene in FF4 the day she was born, and he being the only one I told, encouraged me to go in and cut the umbilical cord.
"He was an important part of my transition into fatherhood ... that healthy family member, with the most positive outlook on life.
"A year ago today ... a year of mourning ... and his absence still leaves me speechless. We miss you Pablo."
