'Furious 7' Cast & News: Michelle Rodriguez Says Losing Paul Walker Was 'Like Losing a Limb'
"Fast & Furious" actress Michelle Rodriguez recently opened up to Entertainment Weekly and Variety about the death of Paul Walker and how it affected her.
Rodriguez described the late Walker as a trusted friend and referred to him as "the deepest guy" she knows.
She revealed that after discovering the news of his death, she went on a "binge" of self-destruction as an attempt to mask how she was really feeling.
"I actually went on a bit of a binge," Rodriguez told EW. "I went crazy a little bit -- pause -- I went pretty crazy. A lot of the stuff I did last year I would never do had I been in my right mind."
EW notes that part of Rodriguez's "crazy period" involved her partying and getting intimate with various celebrities, including British supermodel Cara Delevingne, popstar Justin Bieber and actor Zac Efron.
When asked why she chose to surround herself with those people, Rodriguez responded, "I was pushing myself to feel. I felt like nothing I could do could make me feel alive, so I just kept pushing myself harder and harder. I was traveling and I was having sex. And I was just trying to ignore everything that I was feeling."
In a separate interview with Variety, Rodriguez compared losing Walker to losing a limb.
"It's like losing a limb. I can't explain it any other way. It was hard," she said.
Rodriguez then went on to reveal that "Fast & Furious" co-star Vin Diesel took Walker's death particularly hard.
"I could see it. [Vin's] a quiet, reserved guy when it comes to emotion. For him to f---ing show how he feels. He's old-school alpha male," Rodriguez explained.
She added, "I think the only time Vin was able to show his true emotions about everything that happened was when the movie was finally cut and they showed it to us. That was the first time Vin breathed and let go. He texted me right after and I had a long conversation with him."
"Furious 7" hits theaters on April 3.
