'Doctor Who' Season 9 Cast & Rumors: 'Game of Thrones' Actress Maisie Williams to Guest Star, Her Character 'Will Challenge the Doctor'
Just ahead of the Season 5 premiere of "Game of Thrones," it has been announced that one of its stars will be guest-starring on another show, The Verge reports.
Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark on "Game of Thrones," will be a guest star on BBC's "Doctor Who." BBC announced the news Monday morning in a tweet.
"We're excited to announce #GameOfThrones star Maisie Williams will guest star in the new series of #DoctorWho More soon!" the official "Doctor Who" Twitter account shared.
The showrunner for "Doctor Who," Steven Moffat, is excited to have Williams on the set of the show, according to an official statement. Moffat is not saying what role Williams will take on for the show but says her character "will challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways."
Moffat's comments makes it sound like Williams' role will have a pretty big impact on the Doctor and on the show.
"This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell," Moffat added.
Williams is looking forward to be working on "Doctor Who" as well. She says that she is "excited to be working on 'Doctor Who' as it's such a big and important part of British culture."
"I can't wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we'll be shooting not too far from my home town," she said.
Williams is reporting for her first day of duty on the "Doctor Who" set Monday. Her performance on the show will likely be for just a one-episode run, because of her responsibilities with "Game of Thrones."
The 17-year-old recently starred in the docu-drama "Cyberbully," Entertainment Weekly reports.
