'Halo 5' Release Date, Trailer, News: New Game Coming to Xbox One This Fall
The "Halo 5: Guardians" release date was announced Sunday evening. The fifth game in the series will be released Oct. 27, IGN reports. The release date was announced with two commercials during the season finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead."
In both ads, a soldier is talking out loud while he walks toward a statue of "Halo's" hero Master Chief. One trailer features Agent Locke and the other features Master Chief.
In the first ad, Locke walks through ruins and toward the statue of Master Chief. He appears to be talking directly to the statue.
However, Locke really is talking to someone. Sitting at the base of the statue is the Master Chief, with a huge wound in his upper left shoulder of his armor.
Locke calls the Master Chief a betrayer and as he walks closer to him he switches from a two-handed rifle to a pistol.
"All hail the conquering hero, the one who was supposed save us all. But now I must save us, from you," Locke says to Master Chief as he points his pistol at him.
This is where the ad ends with the hashtag #HuntTheTruth.
The same ad is shown through the eyes of Master Chief. This time, Master Chief is walking toward a wounded Locke. He asks him if "it was all worth it."
The ad ends the same way as the first one did with Master Chief drawing his weapon on Locke.
The official Tumblr website of "Halo 5: Guardians" is called Hunt The Truth. The site displays a video of a gun firing a bullet with the word "traitor" engraved on it. The bullet leaves the gun and smashes through Master Chief's helmet.
Master Chief has previously been labeled a hero. It appears in the fifth installment of the series, he is labeled as a traitor.
The beta version of "Halo 5: Guardians" saw over 1 million players play in over 20 million matches. 343 Industries was given plenty of feedback on what needs to be changed before the game is released to the public this fall, TechTimes reports.
