Media mogul, celebrity blogger, professional spectator and television personality Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., professionally known as Perez Hilton, has gained notoriety for doodle-ridden tabloid photos, past antics of outing closeted celebrities and an ongoing feuds with celebrities such as Lady Gaga. In a change of narrative, Hilton is now set to executive produce and star in a new reality TV series about becoming a first-time father, and what it means to be a gay father in New York City.

The 35-year-old gossip guru became a father in February of this year with the assistance of a surrogate. Cameras will follow him through his life, and document him and a group of other fathers, both married and single, in the series Gay Dads of New York. Hilton and his comrades will support one another as they address the successes and struggles of raising children as gay men in NYC.

"What is your typical American family like? These days, it looks a lot like mine," Hilton indicated in a statement. "I am honored and excited to bring to television a show that will be filled with love, humor and drama. What will it not be? Trashy or boring! I am thrilled to have partnered with the leaders and innovators of reality television, Bunim/Murray, to create a program that is compelling and real."

Hilton's goal is for audience members to look beyond his opinions, and to look to him as a person and a father. He wants the show to expose audiences to the "real" Perez Hilton as he works toward a goal that a number of other shows have recently taken on, which is to inform viewers that modern families have changed, and often don't look like the traditional nuclear family.

"I am a recent transplant to New York City, looking for friends and open to - hopefully - love," he said.

Hilton is still in the process of casting, and is looking to add certain gay men who are willing to share their lives and stories on the series,
