Samsung Round vs LG G Flex: Which Display Curves Better?
LG's G Flex and Samsung's Galaxy Round has introduced a whole new experience for smartphone users.
LG and Samsung launched their respective curved smartphones on the same month. The Galaxy Round and the G Flex are also the first of their kind in the market - making comparisons inevitable.
When it comes to smartphone specs, the Galaxy Round boasts of a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 386 pixels per inch display while the G Flex comes with a massive 6-inch AMOLED screen at 245 ppi. The Galaxy Round runs on 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 compared to the 2.2GHz G Flex. Both Samsung Galaxy Rond and LG G Flex come in Android Jelly Bean which are 4.3 and 4.2.2 respectively.
Unlike the embedded 3,500mAh battery of the G Flex, the Galaxy Round comes with a removable 2,800mAh battery. However, LG scores points for creating the industry's very first flexible battery that curves along with the G Flex.
Samsung's Galaxy Round allows users to expand memory to up to 64GB with its microSD slot. G Flex does not provide support for external storage through expansion slots.
As for aesthetics, various users are all in for the Round's body make-up. It's design is also said to be the most ideal when held. On the other hand, G Flex is dubbed to be more "pocket friendly" with its curves. This remains true amidst its 6.3 by 3.2 by 0.31-inch dimension which is slightly larger compared to Galaxy Round's 5.9 by 3.1 by 0.31-inch dimension. G Flex is also a bit heavier at 6.2 oz compared to Galaxy Round which weighs 5.4 oz.
What breaks the deal is LG's eye for innovation. The G Flex stands true to its name and allows users to literally flex the smartphone without breaking. The flexibility is not only on the body itself but extends to its battery, as previously mentioned, and even the screen. According to CNet, users of the smartphone can press, sit and step on the G Flex while faced downwards without breaking the phone.
While LG's G Flex is the first of its kind, Samsung's Galaxy Round is also able to keep up through its specs and make-up. Both smartphones are not yet available in the US. However, those who can't wait to get their hands on a curvy smartphone can purchase units from Negri Electronics for approximately $1,000.
