KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo does not think that Apple will release another 4-inch iPhone. Instead, Kuo says the next iPhones will retain the 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch sizes, 9to5Mac reports.

KGI Securities has had an excellent track record of making predictions on Apple products. Despite earlier reports that the next iPhone will be the iPhone 6s and 6c, Kuo thinks that the next generation of the iPhone wil be called the iPhone 7.

Kuo claims that the next iPhone will have a FPC-made capacitive Force Touch sensor under the backlight, laminated with metal shielding. He says that this change is significant enough for Apple to call the next phone the iPhone 7, according to MacRumors.

The Force Touch sensor will monitor the contact area where a finger presses to determine how much pressure is being applied. The Force Touch could detect to see if the user flattens their finger on the screen indicating a hard press rather than a light tap.

Current iPhones offer more of an estimate on the force of fingers on the screen. Since the new sensors will be dedicated the new iPhone will be abe to accurately detect the force of a press on the screen.

Kuo says the sensor will be physically located under the backlight. This is similar to how the Galaxy Note is internally structured. However, Apple's force sensors will be more advanced since they have to detect more complex signals.

Kuo's report Thursday appears to be speculation and there is still question on whether there will be one high-end iPhone and one low-end iPhone released in the fall. Kuo said that he disagrees that the Force Touch sensor will only be available in the iPhone 6s, like a Taiwanese report said earlier Thursday morning.
