Warner Bros. has kept the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" under wraps with very little news coming.

The film's first trailer is slated to be released in front of the company's first big summer film of the year, "Mad Max: Fury Road." Warner Bros. was originally thinking of releasing the trailer with "The Avengers" but, according to rumors, the studio decided to wait until the hype on Marvel's film was gone. Warner Bros. has not commented on the rumors but, with less than a year until the movie is released, Warner Bros. is likely to begin a massive campaign, especially if it wants this film to start a new universe.

Last year at Comic Con audiences were able to see the first footage of the film, but that was never released to the general public. Until this point, the company has only released pictures of actors in costume and recently released the first images of Lex Luthor played by Jesse Eisenberg.

"Batman v Superman" will be the first non-summer opening for a Superman or Batman movie, which makes it even more urgent that Warner Bros. begins releasing trailers. While it is likely the movie will break all March records when the studio releases it, Warner Bros. hopes it can also get close to "Avengers" numbers.

The plot to the film is currently unknown, but is slated to have a number of characters including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg). Lois Lane will return after "Man of Steel" as well as Superman's mother Martha Kent. A number actors were cast in the film but their roles have yet to be revealed, including Ezra Miller, Jena Malone and Scoot McNairy. Rumors indicate that The Flash will make an appearance, which would not be a surprise given the success of the TV show.

Zack Snyder directed "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," which is slated for March 25, 2016.
