Isaiah Washington Slammed for Racial Profiling Advice to Chris Rock
On Wednesday, April 1, former "Grey's Anatomy" actor Isaiah Washington tweeted comedian Chris Rock some advice on how to not be racially profiled by police, the Huffington Post reports.
For several weeks, Rock has posted photos of himself being pulled over by police with an apparent frustrated demeanor over the injustice he's experienced.
On March 31, when Rock posted yet another photo of himself getting pulled over, Washington advised Rock to adapt and get a cheaper car like he did.
Washington revealed on Twitter that he sold his $90,000 Mercedes and bought three Prius' instead so that he would not get racially profiled.
Rock has not publicly responded to Washington's tweets, but many social media users have slammed the actor for advising African-Americans to appease police and adapt to racial profiling. Check out some of their tweets below.
Following the backlash, Washington appeared on CNN to speak with anchor, Don Lemon over his controversial comments, E! News reports.
Washington further elaborated on his tweets and revealed that since purchasing a Prius, he has not been pulled over.
"At night, if [the police] don't recognize me, I'm vulnerable like everyone else," he explained. "I will say this: Once I got out of my G500 and have been driving the Prius for the last four years, with windows that are tinted darker than the windows that were tinted in my $90,000 vehicle, I have not been pulled over one time."
Washington also gave additional advice to Rock and suggested that the comedian visit the local police officers in his community to come to some sort of resolution.
