Fans are itching for a new season of "Shameless," as Sunday's Season finale revealed the truth about relationships and love.

"Shameless" executive producer John Wells implied none of the Gallaghers really know what love is.

"They don't have a lot in their lives in the sense of security, and so their relationships become more and more important," Wells told The Hollywood Reporter.

"A question comes into play for all of them: 'How does love or caring for each other make up for scarcity?' There's constant difficulty in having relationships in the world in which they live. ... It's all a part of the theme of something larger: looking for meaning in your life. Who are you, and how do your relationships fit into that?" Wells added. 

The executive producer said the Gallaghers are all growing up, and you will see more of them taking their own directions in the next season.

"Those are the things we all have to adjust to and address all of the time. They do leave; they grow up; they have their own experiences," Wells said

"And they want those experiences and their additional maturity to be recognized by the family. And they aren't always, and that's funny and also dramatic."

Several characters were faced with questioning what they really knew about love and relationships in Sunday's season finale of "Shameless."

Fiona had to decide if she would leave her husband Gus, but then ran into the arms of Sean, the last part of her love triangle. He turns it around and tells her to go back to her husband because he refuses to be the bad guy sleeping with a good guy's wife.

Then, Fiona's little sister decided that she would get pregnant by her boyfriend so that she could finally be a part of a normal family. But they are just teenagers.

Lip was dumped by his college sweetheart then fell in love with his professor. Meanwhile, Ian breaks up with Mickey because he suggested that he needed to be medicated.

Sadly, Bianca ended her own life just for Frank to finally show that he was capable of love, but he does not realize it yet.
