Gisele Bündchen Retires from the Runway: Why Brazilian Bombshell is Hanging Up Her Sexy Designer Duds & Stiletto Heels
Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bündchen, who is "the highest paid model in the world" and the wife of one of the best players in the NFL, The New England Patriots' Tom Brady, is retiring from the runway.
According to a report in a Brazilian newspaper, the Brazilian supermodel of German descent is taking a cue from her body and is stepping off the catwalk to focus on her editorial work.
"Automatically, my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop. I respect my body, it's a privilege to be able to stop," she said, according to reports. "I've learned to listen to my body."
PEOPLE pointed out that the news doesn't come as a shocker considering her statements during her pregnancy were health and body-centric when she said that she didn't want to treat her body like a "garbage disposal." Needless to say, the mother of two is "incredibly in-tune with what that body wants."
The golden-haired beauty stressed that she is not retiring, but "will continue off-the-runway work and spend more time with her family."
Bündchen has reportedly cut back on her appearances and has been spending quality time with her famous hubby, Brady, and their two young children, Benjamin and Vivian.
The famous family was recently spotted in Costa Rica where Brady took a daring jump off of a cliff to "impress" his wife, a stunt which didn't seem to worry Bündchen. While the drop looked pretty steep and scary, Brady thankfully made it out unscathed, which was not only a victory for his family but his football fans as well!
"I don't see how to continue (modeling on the catwalk) ... and stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself," Bündchen added.
What will Bündchen be up to now that she's retiring from the runway?
The world's highest-earning model for the past eight years, who received $47 million in earnings last year to boot, is expected to turn her focus to print ad campaigns, Yahoo! News reports.
She's modeled for top-tier fashion designers from Chanel, Valentino, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Alexander Wang, Balenciaga and Carolina Herrera. She was also a Victoria's Secret "Angel."
