Wednesday’s Powerball is here and worth $40 million, or an estimated $26.7 cash value.

Last Saturday’s winning numbers were: 1, 12, 32, 42 and 58; the Powerball was 12.

After several weeks of the cash rolling over into a major sum of $80 million, a single ticket sold in Davisville, Florida matched the magic numbers.

As reported in Florida Today the winning ticket was sold at State Line Gift Shop on Highway 97.

Davisville is turning out to be a fairly lucky place as a resident named Paul Hogsett previously won $25,000 from a Cash25 drawing back in November.

Aside from the big win on Saturday, there were 466,751 regular winners with $7,928,652 in non jackpot money awarded.

It seems like general knowledge in these lottery stories that one should try to keep a steady mind when coming into a bunch of cash, but the greater skill is probably being able to keep it together when you were almost a jackpot winner.

In 2013 a Florida mother in her 30s named Mindy Crandel was in line to purchase lottery tickets, just dealing with one of her two daughters, when an 84-year old lady named Gloria C. Mackenzie stepped in front of her to buy a ticket.

Crandel was cool with it.

That night Gloria C. Mackenzie won the $590.5 million Powerball jackpot.

The fate involved in all that would be enough to drive any Powerball player nuts, but Crandell was not upset, and said, as reported by ABC News, that "things are meant to be for a reason."

Crandell went on to say that she hopes the money "truly blesses her family."

“It could have been us, but things happen. Sometimes it's better to be patient than right. I knew we were teaching our daughter the right thing," said the woman who maybe won the jackpot when it comes to convenience store etiquette.
