Coachella Music Festival 2015: Florence + The Machine Leader Breaks Foot During Stage Leap, Will Still Perform During Second Weekend
Florence Welch must have been awfully excited this past weekend at the Coachella Music Festival. The Florence + The Machine member broke her foot during a stage leap Sunday, Us Weekly reported.
Welch headlined the third day of the first weekend of Coachella in an energetic performance. She was enjoying the crowd's energy when she took a leap off the stage. The landing caused her to break her foot.
Because of the injury, Welch will have to scale back some of her upcoming performances. She is scheduled to take part in the second weekend of Coachella this upcoming weekend as well.
"Hi everyone, I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favorite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage," the singer wrote in a Facebook post on the band's official page on Tuesday.
"Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back," she added.
"I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you."
Welch and Florence + The Machine had a big announcement before breaking her foot. The band will be performing at the Glastonbury Festival for the first time since 2010.
The band has upcoming tour dates in New York, Boston, Toronto, France and Portugal. The Glastonbury Festival will take place in the U.K. in June.
Welch received positive reviews for her show at Coachella, The Guardian reported. Her high-energy performance featured her jumping from the stage frequently.
"By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet," Welch said.
Florence + The Machine is set to debut a new album "How Big, How Beautiful" in June.
