Lil Wayne Hot New 'Tha Carter V' Album Release 2015: T.I. Talks Weezy vs. Young Thug Beef, 'Carter 6' Controversy [Listen]
T.I. recently discussed the Cash Money beef between Lil Wayne and Young Thug, centered on the recent "Carter 6" controversy.
While on family vacation in Costa Rica, the Atlanta emcee called into DJ Whoo Kid's radio show, "Tha Whoolywood Shuffle," on April 15.
During the phone interview, T.I.P. was asked if his collaboration with fellow Atlanta native is on the way. He confirmed that he would be featured on Thug's upcoming debut effort, now titled "Barter 6."
"We definitely got enough stuff to do one. I know Thugga's working on his solo project," he said. "I believe we got a record on there."
The rapper duo previously worked together on several tracks, including "About the Money," "I Need War" and "Off Set," which is included in the "Furious 7" soundtrack.
The "Whatever You Like" hitmaker also recalled speaking to Thugga about the problematic title of his latest project , which was obviously taken from Weezy's "Carter" series, and whether it was intended to be a diss toward the New Orleans rapper or not.
"I asked Thugga myself," he said. "I said, 'Hey brother, what you doing? What's going on?' and he basically responded. He said, 'Everybody's making it a whole lot more... I'm doing it to pay homage. That's my favorite rapper.'"
T.I.'s comment comes after Thug announcing to fans that he is no longer naming his forthcoming LP "Carter 6."
While his anxiously awaited "Tha Carter V" album is long overdue, Wayne finally responded to the "Carter 6" plans at a concert in Mississippi on April 9, urging fans to "stop listening to songs n***as that pose naked on they motherf**king album cover" – seemingly referencing the Rich Gang member's album cover.
After stirring up drama, Young Thug took to his Instagram account earlier this week to let his fans know that he has changed his mind over alleged legal threat.
"Can't name the mixtape 'Carter 6' because these f**k a** n***as tryin' to sue just like some hoes," he said. "Big ol' Blood so... 'Barter 6' on the f**kin' way."
Young Thug's "Barter 6" is set for a release on April 17. Listen to T.I.'s interview below:
