The next episode of "Criminal Minds" will be chilling and intense when the BAU investigates a killer who takes control of his victims' minds and then uses them as a proxy to murder others.

In a preview of Wednesday's episode, which is entitled "Mr. Scratch," a man appears to hypnotize people into killing other people. It also appears that the UnSub will put Hotch in a trance and manipulate him into killing his colleagues.

According to CarterMatt, the installment was directed by series star Matthew Gray Gubler and the synopsis for the episode reads as follows:

"When three people implicated in murders claim they were attacked by a 'clawed shadow monster' at the moment each crime occurred, the BAU searches for an UnSub who is controlling their minds. Also, the search for the culprit puts one of the team in jeopardy."

Executive producer Erica Messer also revealed that the storyline about the suspect who has been kidnapping and auctioning people off online will come to a head. It will end with with unfortunate consequences for Kate, who will be put in a difficult position as she tries to save Meg and her friend.

"By the end of episode 22, we do a mini cliffhanger in that we know that Meg and her best friend are being kidnapped by the guy we saw in the premiere ... [The finale] is our team fighting for one of our own to get her loved one back," Messer told Entertainment Weekly.

In addition, the showrunner teased that although Reid asked Agent Dorian Loker, who was played by guest star Emily Churchill, on a date last month, he will not find love anytime soon.

"She will not be in the rest of this season," the EP told TVGuide.com, adding that the function of the date was to show that Reid has finally moved on from Maeve's death. "It's been two years. Maeve is something that will never go away in his heart. We want him to smile again and we think everybody else does too. The fact that this quirky agent who speaks Russian is somebody he'd like to have coffee with -- good on him. That's a great thing."

Season 10, Episode 21 of "Criminal Minds," "Mr. Scratch," will air on Wednesday, April 22, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
