CW 'Arrow' Season 3 Episode 20 Spoilers: Oliver and Felicity Hook Up, Thea Dips Into the Lazarus Pit in 'The Fallen' [Video]
Wednesday's all-new episode of "Arrow" will be intense as Ra's al Ghul will raise the stakes in effort to coerce Oliver McQueen into becoming his successor and Oliver and Felicity will finally hook up.
In last week's episode, "Broken Arrow," fans said goodbye to Colton Haynes' character, Roy Harper, who faked his own death in order to make a prison break. He then left town and his position on Team Arrow.
Although Roy has officially left Startling City, "Arrow" co-creators and executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased that that won't be the last time viewers see Roy on the show.
"The hope is that he'll continue to be part of the universe we are building," Guggenheim told Deadline. "We love working with [him] so much. We've talked to him about returning to one of the three shows, and if available, he has expressed interest. He is gone but definitely not forever."
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Guggenheim revealed that Roy, aka Arsenal, will return in the May 6 episode, "This Is Your Sword," to attend to his unfinished business.
"The thing we felt we owed the audience more than anything was some closure with Thea because [of] the circumstances under which Thea is in," Guggenheim said. "Certainly we owed the audience some closure for this three season-long love story between these two characters."
Another pivotal moment in "Broken Arrow" occurred when Ra's al Ghul stabbed Thea to death. However, Oliver's little sister may not remain on the other side for long. In the upcoming episode, entitled "The Fallen," Team Arrow will head back to Nanda Parbat where Oliver will risk putting Thea into the Lazarus Pit to bring her back to life. However, he will first have to agree to become the new leader of The League of Assassins. He will also face the risk of Thea becoming temporarily insane, which is one of the side effects of the pit.
According to MoviePilot, Ra's was able to live for thousands of years in DC Comics after dipping into the Lazarus Pit, which has rejuvenating powers and can bring back the dead.
Fans can also expect to see a highly anticipated love scene with Felicity and on Wednesday.
"I think it's the next step in their relationship," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told ETonline. "We root for characters to be together as much as anybody. You're sort of the ultimate shippers when you're creators of the show. I think the time has come for them -- they've been dancing around it for a long time -- to really declare how they feel for each other."
In addition, Guggenheim dropped hints about Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke, played by Manu Bennett, and ARGUS director Amanda Waller, played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, reports ComicBook.com.
"I haven't been informed that [Deathstroke] is off the table," Guggenheim said. "We have Slade Wilson ideas and we talk about it. I know that Manu is shooting another TV series in New Zealand, so there's some practical things but he's not off the table, at least as far as I'm aware."
The EP went on to say that "Amanda's not off the table either. Cynthia's wonderful; she's a great actress. The challenge that we had with her this season is that she was first on a series called Texas Rising and then when that finished she was on a movie called The Accountant, and Arrow was always in second position because she's not a series regular. So you probably felt us working around her availability. But we love her and we have a story idea for her for Season Four and anything is possible."
Furthermore, Greg Berlanti teased spoilers about the Season 3 finale, which he said will include "a big, epic, climactic battle, and I'm not going to give away who is going to make it. Everything will be changed after this season."
"The third season finale is among our best episodes, with each twist more shocking and surprising than the next," added Guggenhiem.
The synopsis for "The Fallen" reads as follows:
Ra's al Ghul (guest star Matt Nable) finally makes Oliver (Stephen Amell) an offer he can't refuse. The team joins Oliver on his journey to Nanda Parbat where a heartbroken Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) decides to take matters into her own hands."
"Arrow" Season 3, Episode 20, "The Fallen," airs on Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
