Fox 'Empire' News: Lucious Lyon's Home For Sale in Chicago for $13M
The Chicago area home where the Fox smash-hit show "Empire" is shot is now on the market at a cool cost of $13 million.
According to Chicago Curbed, the European-style country mansion where series protagonist Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) now rests his head sits on eight acres and comes with five bedrooms, nine full baths and more than 20,000 square feet of space.
The Barrington-based property belongs to Sam Ceola, owner of Chicago's Admiral Theatre strip club. Yahoo reports that though the Lee Daniels co-created series is set in New York, at least parts of the first season were actually shot in the Windy city.
The massive residence took at least five years to build and initially Ceola was seeking $15.9 million for the property. Yahoo adds early in the season Howard meets with his three fictional sons for one of the season's most critical scenes, deciding which of them is worthy of running the family's music empire once he steps aside.
"Empire" also stars Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon. According to Deadline, earlier this month, she and Daniels traveled to Paris to attend the show's international premiere.
The show has already been greenlighted for a second season and A-list stars such as Beyonce, Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian are rumored to guest star on the show.
"The phone has been ringing off the hook," a source told HollywoodLife of the stars now expressing a willingness to star on the show. "They are lobbying in many different ways to make it happen."
The website adds many of the stars envision writing new music and performing it on the show before a huge, music-loving audience.
"Empire" also stars Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon), Bryshere Gray (Hakeem Lyon), Trai Byers (Andre Lyon) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda Lyon).
