iOS 7 Evad3rs Jailbreak News and Download Rumors: Still No Update as Crowdfund Jackpot Grows
We are closing in on the two-month mark since the last time we heard from the Evad3rs on Twitter.
The popular hacking group that has racked over a quarter of a million followers on Twitter has not sent out any tweets since one Oct. 29 post that indicated that the group was "working hard on the iOS7 jailbreak."
Many people who are looking for a timeframe for the iOS 7 jailbreak have grown unhappy with the lack of updates from the group. Furthermore, people are relying on the group since the Evad3rs were the ones who have proved to release safe and cost free jailbreaks in the past.
One of the reasons people have grown to become so impatient is because they have been hesitant to upgrade to the next operating system without the jailbreak release.
"iOS developers: Please consider not making your apps iOS7-only. Some of us are patiently waiting for an iOS7 jailbreak before we upgrade," Carlos Andreu (@cnandreu) said on Twitter.
To see some key evidence of just how fast people are rushing this jailbreak -- and how much money they are willing to put into it -- take a look at the crowd fund that has been created as a reward for anyone who can release the iOS 7 jailbreak according to specific terms.
More than $10,000 has been placed in the jackpot, but it has yet to be claimed by anyone.
"We strongly believe that users should have the freedom to control their devices," the website reads. "We wanted an open source jailbreak for iOS 7, giving users the capability to install what they want on their own devices and the ability to audit the code they're using to do so. Jailbreaking is also critical to ensuring that the disabled are able to use their mobile devices as easily as possible. So we started a prize for the first people who can do it."
