Powerball Numbers & Results April 22, 2015: Watch Live Stream Of Drawing For $40 Million Jackpot
Wednesday’s Powerball is upon us.
There is a current estimated jackpot of $40 million, which is a $26.8 million cash value.
Saturday’s lucky numbers were: 13, 22, 23, 29 and 31; and the Powerball was 17.
There was a Grand Prize winner, and that person was from Puerto Rico.
On Thursday, island lottery officials announced that the Powerball winner presented one of the three winning tickets to last week's $564 million jackpot.
The winner, who will share the prize with the Texas and North Carolina winners, has wisely chosen to remain anonymous.
The ticket was purchased at a Shell station in Ponce, Puerto Rico. According to Puerto Rico Lottery officials, the lottery winner was not a resident of the city.
The winner now has 60 days in which to decide if he or she would like a lump sum of $101 million or 30 payments over the course of 29 years.
As reported by NBC, the Assistant Secretary to the Puerto Rico lottery, said: "For those who doubted that this prize could be won on the island, this is proof that the possibilities are real."
Other people’s luck has a way of bringing out the intolerance in some, and last week’s revelation that the Powerball winner was from Puerto Rico really brought a lot of ignorance out.
Some examples of the means tweets directed at the win, as reported by Latino Rebel, were: "It’s completely outrageous someone from Puerto Rico won the Powerball, thought this was America!”
“Since when could you win a Powerball jackpot in Puerto Rico? Don’t they use the Euro as currency?” another said.
The legality of Powerball in Puerto Rico is of course beyond question, since the island is a U.S. territory.
Beyond the grand prize, there were 411,277 winners and $5,376,984 in non-jackpot prizes awarded.
Be sure to check here for local stations broadcasting the next Powerball drawing.
