Russell Wilson, Ciara Relationship Rumors: Singer & NFL Star to Attend White House Correspondents Dinner Together
Seattle Seahawks star quarterback Russell Wilson appears ready to take his rumored romance with R&B songstress Ciara to the next level.
The Washington Post reports the star quarterback plans to have his rumored leading lady escort him to White House Correspondents dinner this weekend.
The Post adds when the formal guest list for the dinner was recently made public it listed Ciara as Wilson's official date. Rumors of the pair's budding romance first began to percolate earlier this month when they were spotted at a Seattle Mariners game together. Several media sites, such as SF Gate, have reported Wilson donned dark sunglasses and tried to look "inconspicuous."
Ciara has previously been engaged to rap star Future and the two have an 11-month-old son together. In an apparent reference to her now wayward ex, in the song "I Bet" Ciara once belted, "I bet you start loving me. As soon as I start loving someone else. Somebody better than you."
According to HollywoodLife, the 26-year-old Wilson was previously married to college sweetheart Ashton Meems for two years before filing for divorce in April of 2014.
At the time, Wilson released a formal statement through the team.
"I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," he said. "Clearly, decisions like these don't come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this matter."
Later, rumors surfaced that the split was caused by an affair Meems engaged in with Wilson's then Seahawks' teammate Golden Tate, prompting the outspoken receiver to vehemently deny the allegations in a first person essay.
"I did not have an affair with Russell Wilson's wife, nor did I have anything to do with his divorce," he wrote on Medium. That is laughable for anyone who knows us. His ex-wife, Ashton, is still best friends with my girlfriend."
