Justin Bieber Zone News 2013: Is The Pop Star Retiring? Fans React [VIDEO]
Can't he handle the pressure anymore? After making numerous headlines regarding his previous controversial behaviors, Justin Bieber finally surrenders and announces he is retiring.
The 19-year-old singer has revealed that he is taking a step back from the music industry, once his upcoming album, Journals, is released next week, and it could be permanent. "After the new album, I'm actually retiring man. I'm retiring," Bieber told radio station Power 106 in Los Angeles, California.
Hearing the shocking news, radio host Kurt Alexander, better known as Big Boy, reacted by exclaiming "What?" followed by a gasp from the rest of the show's members.
The Canadian singer initially appeared to be sure, however following their reaction, he suggested that he has not made up his mind yet. "I want to grow up as an artist and I'm taking a step out," he said. "I want my music to mature."
Bieber said the main issue is that he is no longer attracted to the idea of fame, saying: "I'm here solely for my fans and for the music."
However, a source close to the "Boyfriend" singer claimed that Justin Bieber was just joking and he has no plans to permanently end his music career. "The kid's got ambition," the source said.
In addition, Bieber also hit back at his critics by denying that he is becoming arrogant. "People think I'm arrogant," he said. "I'm not, I've always been a caring and giving person."
"I'm 19, I'm gonna make mistakes. It's inevitable," he added.
The radio interview comes a day before the L.A. premiere of Justin Bieber's documentary Believe, which is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas Day.
