Google Glass Release Date, Features & Specs: Device Update Allows Wink to Snap A Picture
Recent software updates announced by Google Glass gave way to a brand new means of taking a picture and that is just by the wink of an eye.
Mashable reports that it is one controversial feature especially after the company took out their MyGlass iOS version from the apps in the Apple Store. The new wink feature was revealed alongside their explanation of the mishap that happened with the app and a new batch of Google Glass updates.
The wink feature was doubted by many critics with the initial thought that it was made to capture sneaky images of others in public. The privacy related issues even reached the attention of the Congress. This brand new way of taking pictures was first implemented through the Winky app.
Other features of the Google Glass include lock screen, hangout message feature on, and convenient way of uploading videos in YouTube.
Google responded positively despite of all the negative criticisms their device has been getting. On their official Google+ page, the Google Glass team posted this message:
"We've got a new setting that lets you quickly and easily capture the moments you care about with a simple wink of the eye," Sydney Morning Herald wrote in their article about the Google Glass update.
The complete message of the Google Glass team stated:
"We're starting with pictures, but just think about what else is possible. Imagine a day where you're riding in the back of a cab and you just wink at the meter to pay. You wink at a pair of shoes in a shop window and your size is shipped to your door. You wink at a cookbook recipe and the instructions appear right in front of you -- hands-free, no mess, no fuss. Pretty cool, right?"
Forbes further reported that a facial recognition unauthorized app is planned to be released soon for Google Glass. It will be initiated by Stephen Balaban and his team and will be called as FaceRec.
