'The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 Episode 20 Spoilers: Will Elena and Damon Take The Cure in 'I'd Leave My Happy Home for You? [Watch]
Fans can expect the last three episodes of Season 6 of "The Vampire Diaries" to be intense as Damon continues to struggle with his dilemma of whether or not he should give Elena the cure.
In a promo for the upcoming new episode, which is titled "I'd Leave My Happy Home for You," Damon appears to give Elena the cure so that she could become human again. He also insists that he wants to take the cure, too. However, Stefan is not convinced that his brother really wants to trade in his life as a vampire for a mortal, human life.
Actress Kat Graham also dropped hints about the upcoming season finale, revealing that it may not be as sad as viewers are anticipating, despite the fact that it may be Nina Dobrev's last appearance on the show as Elena.
"I don't know if it's a sad thing," Graham told TV Guide. "Change for a lot of us, for anyone, is very difficult, but I wouldn't say the episode is going to leave you sad ... I think, I'm hoping, people will be excited for what's next and our journey as a family together. I'm actually happy [because] I think there is some risk-taking in the finale. Even if one chapter closes, sometimes people don't really deal with things and they don't end things how they need to, and I'm excited for the fans to see that."
Graham went on to tease that her character, Bonnie, will learn to put herself first, even if it jeopardizes her friendship with Damon.
"Even though [fans] want to see Bonnie and Damon in a very loving relationship, [she] finally put her foot down and said, 'Absolutely not, I'm not going to just hand this [ascendant] over to you and risk my life again and everyone else's life when I just got back. I'm not going to let you do this.' That's not something she would have probably done a couple of seasons ago."
Graham continues, "When she was stuck in the '90s, she really felt left and there were a bunch of failed attempts to rescue her where she had her hopes up. She sacrificed herself until she literally had nothing. So after dealing with that ... something clicked within her."
Bonnie's new attitude will in turn affect her relationship with Damon. "I haven't been given any inclination [the relationship] will be deeper than what it is now, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have a stronger friendship moving forward," Graham says. "In a lot of ways they're all each other has."
Graham added that Bonnie isn't too concerned about Kai.
"She's the most powerful she's ever been, she has her powers back, she's nobody's doormat. I don't think she's 'worried' about anyone," she said.
In the meantime, executive producer Caroline Dries also shared spoilers about the rest of the season.
"We're happily building towards the first wedding on our show. So we're looking forward to the pre-wedding rituals that go along with the big day. You know, strippers, bachelor parties, wedding dresses... bloodshed -- those sorts of things," she told TVLine.
Viewers will also learn more about Lily Salvatore's "layered" history, while Bonnie's recent actions will yield "shocking and terrifying" consequences.
Season 6, Episode 20 of "The Vampire Diaries," entitled "I'd Leave My Happy Home for You," will air Thursday, April 30 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
