The fate of Cece and Schmidt's union hangs in the balance during the Season 4 finale of "New Girl" set to air on Fox on May 14.

TV Guide reports Cece (Hannah Simone) may not be holding a grudge, but all the drama has already led to her leaving town and being of the mind to allow "Schmidt have his life with Fawn." Executive producer Dave Finkel is on record asserting, "She's going to try to reclaim her life ... by doing a Wild-esque trek through Mount Shasta."

Meanwhile, Schmidt seems to have his own burden to bear, namely trying to figure out how best to deal with Fawn having accidentally exposed herself at a recent charity golf tournament.

Taylor Swift is also slated to guest star in the season finale, which is additionally being billed as a "cliffhanging love triangle."

E! News previously reported either Jess and Nick or Cece and Schmidt will find themselves with major decisions to make about the status of their respective relationships. It's also reported that "Teen Wolf" alum Dylan O'Brien will guest star in upcoming episodes as a "blast from Jess' past" and Merritt Wever of "Nurse Jackie" fame will play the role as Schmidt's ex-girlfriend.

Swift's role in the episode "Clean Break" is not expected to be a lengthy one, but it could prove significant, according to Spoilers Guide.

It could have something to do Jess recently branding herself a "love doctor."

According to TVLine, Fox execs have already green-lit the show for another season and production has already started. "New Girl" stars Zooey Deschanel as Jess, Jake Johnson as Nick, Lamorne Morris as Winston, Max Greenfield as Schmidt and Hannah Simone as Cece. Longtime regular Damon Wayans Jr., who stars as Coach, is slated to leave the show at the end of the season.
