‘The Last Witch Hunter’ Movie News and Release Date: October Release, Cast List, Official Teaser Trailer Starring Vin Diesel [Watch]
Vin Diesel battled rogue agents in "Fast and Furious 7" and now he is set to hunt witches in the supernatural thriller "The Last Witch Hunter," reports People magazine.
The first teaser trailer for "The Last Witch Hunter" was released on Wednesday. Once again, the world's fate rests in the action star's hands.
The official synopsis reads, "An immortal witch hunter (Vin Diesel) is tasked with the job of coming between the covens of New York City and their goal to destroy humanity by way of a horrific plague. In order to accomplish this he must partner up with a beautiful female witch (Rose Leslie, 'Game of Thrones'), something that he thought he would never do."
Diesel, who plays the main character named Kaulder, uses a flaming sword as his weapon of choice to kill witches.
Last June, Diesel expressed his excitement about the film project on Facebook, writing, "I just read the latest draft of The Last Witch Hunter... wow, amazing! I literally needed to go off alone, to digest and reflect... It will be an exciting challenge to bring the character of Kaulder to life..."
Here is the list of "The Last Witch Hunter" actors and what character each plays:
- Vin Diesel as Kaulder
- Rose Leslie as Chloe
- Elijah Wood as the 37th Dolan
- Michael Caine as Father Dolan
- Rena Owen as Glaeser
- Julie Engelbrecht as Witch Queen
- Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Belial

Production on the film was delayed in the wake of Paul Walker's death, as was shooting for "Fast and Furious 7." Lionsgate had planned on filming the fantasy and action film in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania starting in June 2014, but did not start until Sept. 5. It took three months to film, wrapping up on Dec. 5.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told Deadline that, if successful, "The Last Witch Hunter" could become a film franchise.
"The Last Witch Hunter" will be released in U.S. theaters on Oct. 23, 2015.
