iPhone 6 Release Date, Rumors and Features 2013: Expect Two Different Sized Screens?
iPhone 6 Launch Date
When will the latest and greatest iPhone land in stores? Signs point to a September 2014 unveiling and release though Apple could go back to the original iPhone launch schedule, which was every June until the iPhone 4s bucked that trend. The fall looks to better date particularly as many people are either at school or work. The summer months are popular travel times and the sizzle of an iPhone 6 launch may not be enough to lure in buyers.
Bigger display?
A bunch of different sources have been throwing out various iPhone sizes. 4.5", 4.7" and 4.8" have been talked about the most. A 4.8" iPhone seems to be the most plausible. A 4.5" display simply wouldn't wow the tech community enough. Plus, the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s have 4" screens and a half-inch bump is hardly worth pursuing.
Many Android phones now have 5" or larger displays and Apple needs to release a larger model soon. Customers could jump ship as they see their friends watching movies and typing emails on a significantly bigger display. Screen envy is real and the 4" iPhone Retina display is simply to undersized to care about anymore.
The chief competitor to the iPhone 5s smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. The GS4 has a 5" 1080p display and the supersized Note 3 delivers a massive 5.7" viewing area. They still fit fairly comfortable in even the smallest of hands. The sales figures of the Galaxy line are second only to the iPhone line and could increase.
One or two models?
Currently the iPhone 5c is Apple's budget phone and the iPhone 5s is its flagship model. The 5c features a single beautiful piece of hard-coated polycarbonate plastic. It's available in fun colors such as yellow and pink. It improves upon the outgoing iPhone 5 in terms of cell reception as well. The iPhone 5s is jam-packed with the latest technologies. 64 bit processing for future proofing and a finger print scanner to make life easier and theft harder top the list. The new Champagne gold color is sure to turn heads.
Two iPhones. Two massive hits for Apple. Would it be doing a disservice to itself if the c model were a one-off? It's likely we will see a plastic iPhone 6 alongside the premium aluminum variant. A bigger screen for the new c model would be especially intriguing. The iPhone 6 Air or XL as it has been coined will anchor the lineup though.
