'The Good Wife' Season 6 Episode 21 and Finale Spoilers: Kalinda and Alica Come Face-to-Face in Finale, Preview of 'Don't Fail' [Watch]
Things will continue to heat up on the next episode of "The Good Wife" following Kalinda's dramatic departure.
Last week, Alicia was forced to step down as State's Attorney before she lost her spot at the law firm that she helped create. She also said goodbye to her old friend, Kalinda, who left her a farewell letter after getting caught in a scandal that led to Lemond Bishop's arrest.
Fortunately for Kalinda fans, the private investigator will return in the season finale, reports TVLine. This will also mark the first time Kalinda and Alicia will share a scene together in two years, since the former friends had a falling out after Alicia found out that Kalinda had slept with her husband, Peter.
According to TVLine, "'Kalicia' 'shippers will get the face-to-face moment between" the two actresses that "they've been waiting nearly three years. And I hear it'll be a crowd-pleaser -- satisfying, heartbreaking, funny, etc."
Earlier this year, the show co-creator Robert King told TVLine that the decision to put distance between the two characters was "very much intentional to raise expectations."
In a recent interview with E! News, series star Matt Czuchry opened up about Cary's final moments with Kalinda and how he will cope with her exit.
"For Cary, when he walked in and saw that hole in the wall there and everything turned over -- he always knew what kind of person Kalinda was in terms of she could up and disappear in the middle of the night," said the actor. "He knows in the moment that she's done that to protect him, and to protect Alicia and to protect Diane. That's who that character is."
He went on to say that "Kalinda in a lot of ways came in mysterious and now she's leaving mysteriously. For me, I think that's true to the character, but I think for fans, it's going to be varied in terms of the reaction," Czuchry said.
"I'm sure it's not going to be universal in one way or another in terms of how that feels. Again, what I do like about the Cary/Kalinda exit with the lack of closure: Life is messy. Often times you want closure with things and you can't get that and you have a difficult time in processing that and that traumatic event changes you. That's certainly the case for Cary in this way ... like life in a lot of ways, you don't get those goodbyes you wish you had. That will be the case for Cary, obviously after dealing with it in terms of episode 20."
He also teased that fans will feel the effects of Kalinda's absence on Cary in the next two episodes.
"That was a friendship and a relationship that ebbed and flowed over the course of six years ... Cary is certainly going to feel the weight of that loss. You will see little hints of that coming up in episode 21 and 22."
In Sunday's episode, which is titled "Don't Fail," Alicia will look far into the past, and also back to 2009 as she tries to take on an extremely complicated case. According to CarterMatt, the synopsis reads as follows:
"When a former client (Dorian Missick) calls Alicia after being charged with murder tied to a case from 2009, Alicia reviews the old case, prompting memories of her early days as a lawyer."
Season 6, Episode 21 of "The Good Wife," "Don't Fail," will air on Sunday, May 3, at 9 p.m. on CBS.
