A deal from StackSocial is allowing customers to purchase a Google Nexus 5 with one year of service for just $199.99. The deal ends Monday, according to CNet. 

The Google Nexus 5 was one of the better smartphones in 2013 and it still is a very capable device. The Nexus 5 usually comes with Android 4.4, but this deal comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop already pre-installed and ready to go. 

The calling plan will provide customers with unlimited minutes and texts and 500 MB of 4G from the Sprint network. 

The Nexus 5 has a 1,920x1,080-pixel display, 16 GB of nonexchangeable storage and fast performance from the Snapdragon 800 processor.

The free year of calling comes from third-party wireless carrier FreedomPop. FreedomPop uses the Sprint network to provide wireless service to customers. 

Customers choosing to take advantage of this offer from StackSocial will be shipped a Google Nexus 5 in a plain box. Inside the box will be a charging cable and charging cube. The phone is refurbished but customers likely will not be able to tell. Before buying this deal, customers should ensure that Sprint offers coverage in their area.

The phone will come unlocked which means users can take it to another CDMA or GSM carrier if they want. If they do this before the one year of free service is up, their service from FreedomPop will be deactivated.

This deal is great for someone with an older phone. The Nexus 5, even though it is not the latest phone from Google, still remains an excellent smartphone. Since it is upgraded to the latest version of Android Lollipop, it will look and feel just like the newest smartphones on sale today.

A year of free service really makes this deal worth seriously looking into. The 500 MB data cap is quite small, but even if a user goes over and has to pay the penalty, it is still much cheaper than most individual calling and data plans that can exceed $100 per month.
