The Golden State Warriors finished with best regular-season record and are one of the favorites to win the title this season, and the Bay Area squad could become more formidable in 2016.

The Warriors, who finished the regular season with an impressive 67-15 record, will reportedly look to add another superstar in the summer of 2016 and are reportedly eyeing Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.

Seeking more help for superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Mychal Thompson, the father of Klay, told ESPN LA 710 that the Warriors will chase Durant when he becomes a free agent after the 2015-16 NBA season.

"I also heard it on good authority from a team that plays in the Bay Area that they're going to go hard after Kevin Durant," Mychal Thompson said.

While Mychal Thompson did not mention any sources for his statement, Alex Torres of Warriors World is convinced the rumor is worth monitoring. Because Mychal Thompson is Klay's father, he thinks there is no reason for the elder Thompson to make a story.

The NBA salary cap is expected to increase significantly in 2016 and the Warriors will have enough cap space to offer a lucrative deal to Durant. David Lee, who is currently the highest-paid player in the Warriors roster, will also come off their books after next season.

Durant, who was limited to 27 games this season because of a foot injury, is expected to test free agency in 2016. The Thunder are still reportedly on top of his list of possible destination, but the 26-year-old is also being linked to several teams like his hometown squad Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Recent reports indicated that the performance of the Thunder next season will be a big factor when Durant makes his decision in 2016. Oklahoma City recently fired head coach Scott Brooks, which reportedly surprised the 2014 NBA Most Valuable Player.

Most NBA analysts said the firing of Brooks and hiring of former Florida Gators coach Billy Donovan could backfire when Durant becomes a free agent, but the former Texas standout broke his silence on Thursday and expressed full support to their new head coach.

"I'm looking forward to learning from somebody else," Durant said when asked about playing under Donovan. "It should be a good relationship. Like I said, I want to get a feel for him myself and for him to get a feel for me and just work from there."
