Royal Princess Name: What Will Kate Middleton & Prince William Name Princess Cambridge?
The new royal baby spent her first night at home in London's Kensington Palace as people around the world tried to guess what her name would be.
It took two days to reveal the name of her big brother Prince George back in 2013, Yahoo! News reports according to AP. The royal couple wanted to wait until Queen Elizabeth II met her new great-grandson.
The bets are in -- the name Alice has been said to be a popular guess for the little princess. Some say she may be named Charlotte after Prince Charles since it's quite common for royals to look to their past for name ideas.
Kate Middleton may possibly name her first daughter after Prince William's late mother, Diana. Other possibilities include Olivia, Victoria, Elizabeth and Alexandra.
If the baby is named Charlotte, she would be named after Prince George IV's only child who died during childbirth when she was 21.
If she is named Alice, she would be named after the great-grandmother of the queen's husband, Philip.
The royal family welcomed their bundle of joy Saturday evening weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces.
"The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world," their press office said in a statement on Sunday. "It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their new daughter."
The royal princess was born at 8:34 in the morning and the announcement was made at 11 a.m, according to The Telegraph. Prince George visited his baby sister in the afternoon.
She is the first princess to be born in the British monarchy in 25 years since Prince Andrew's daughter Princess Eugenie. She was introduced outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington at around 6 p.m.
